The ride covers a very challenging and scenic route traversing wonderful alpine scenery. There are significant long & difficult climbs up both sides of Mt Hotham and high speed descents.
As the route is in relatively remote areas and subject to extreme weather, there is a minimum “kit” requirement of: rain jacket, arm & leg cover or thermals, space blanket or equiv, 2 x 600ml bidons or equiv as well as tubes, pump & levers and pocket food in addition to the lighting rules.
Riders without required lights and or kit will not be issued a brevet to start the ride.
